Maria Huffman

Huffman joined the SCCC as Director in July 2025. Since 2015, she has managed university cleanroom facilities—first the Lund Nano Lab (LNL) at Lunds Universitet in Sweden and later the Washington Nanofabrication Facility (WNF) at the University of Washington in Seattle, US.

Prior to her academic roles, Huffman spent three decades in the semiconductor and solar industries, holding research, development, and manufacturing positions. She has led teams of varying sizes, from small research groups to full departments, advancing next-generation technologies in thin-film solar, semiconductor processing, and laser optics production. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with customers and partners as a technical liaison and consultant, driving collaborative innovation in manufacturing process engineering.

Huffman holds a Ph.D. in Solid State Chemistry from Arizona State University.
