Shivesh Kumar is an Assistant Professor in Dynamics and Control at the Department of Mechanical and Maritime Sciences, Chalmers University of Technology, where he leads the Robot Athletic Intelligence Lab (RAIL). His research group focuses on legged robotics and the development of next‑generation physical AI. He is also co‑affiliated with the Robotics Innovation Center at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI‑RIC) in Bremen. He has received multiple best paper awards and has been recognized as a New Generation Star in Robotics Research at IROS 2024 and a Future Research Leader by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) in 2025. He serves as co‑chair of the IEEE‑RAS Technical Committee on Model‑Based Optimization for Robotics.
