Steffen Schellenberger is a senior researcher in the Environment and Sustainable Chemistry Unit at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. He holds a PhD in Environmental Science from Stockholm University and has a background in Chemical Engineering, with research expertise in PFAS substitution. His current work focuses on sustainable chemicals in materials production, particularly for textiles, electronics, and lithium-ion batteries. He is involved in several national and European projects and supports Nordic companies on chemical regulation and substitution.
He is the co-owner of six patents for alternative PFAS chemistries and has published 15 highly cited scientific papers (including five first- or second-author papers in ES&T) in the field of PFAS substitution and analysis.
